Even though Linux is growing too fast, outshining other operating systems, lack of a nice download manager in Linux is always felt. Jdownloader is finally out which is expected to resolve all your download problems. Jdownloader is advanced enough to download automatically from Rapidshare, Megaupload etc. Even downloading Youtube videos is supported. Java powers Jdownloader, thus extending the range of platforms of operation.

To install with Ubuntu repositories issue the following commands in the terminal .

sudo apt-add-ppa repository: jd-team/jdownloader

However, starting with Ubuntu Jaunty, type the following line, changing the expression of the corresponding code-named version of the system:

sudo bash-c "echo 'deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jd-team/jdownloader/ubuntu NAME-VERSION-UBUNTU (example: Jaunty) main'>> / etc / apt / sources.list"
sudo apt-key adv - keyserver.ubuntu.com keyserver - recv-keys 6A68F637

After these processes have been finished, install Jdownloader.

sudo apt-get update & & sudo apt-get install jdownloader

Youamp simply offers essential features of an audioplayer, but lacks support for scrobble tracks. For all Ubuntu users out there, you can install YouAmp from commandline. Issue the following commands :

sudo apt-add-ppa repository: rojtberg / youamp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install youamp

If you are interested in other simple audioplayers, audicious is a perfect choice. Audacious is fast and even have support for winamp themes.

2. VirtualBox – Most of you might be familiar with VirtualBox , from Sun Microsystems , a nice virtualization software which is available for free . 3.Scribus – Scribus is an opensource desktop publishing tool available for free . 4.Gimp – Available by default in your Ubuntu machine . If you are interested in photo-editing  gimp would be a good start .Read more about gimp and how to use gimp .

5.Blender – Blender is an opensource 3-d content creation suite available for free . Blender is as effective as other commercial software like maya , 3-d max etc , without taking you in to complex processes. Blender is definitely worth a look , you can even watch  how powerful is blender viewing the blender, gallery page .

6. Other crazy stuff like vlc player ,firefox, evolution ,pidgin , openoffice , k3b disc burner , songbird , x-chat etc are definitely worth a look . Here are a few tutorials and reviews on getting in touch with various nice free software programs , take a look at them .

7.If you are interested in making your linux an eye-candy , then opt for compiz .Compiz offers a stylish look without sacrificing too much system resources . Oh ! , I know you need to make your linux appear similar to mac os , here it is it mac4lin .

Windows is never equivalent to Linux as both are distinct operating systems . I , here present my personal opinion .

1.Windows live messenger

This is undoubtly the best for making video conferencing.Windows Live Messenger lets you conference with your contacts in just a click . Enjoy pc-to-pc calling, text messaging to cell phones, and talking to your Yahoo or Messenger buddies with this cool software.

2.Yahoo messenger with voice

This one also offers much more customizations like its alternatives.And especially if you love yahoo ,this software is for you.You can simply drag and drop images into the IM window.Also we can have lot of fun with the cool avatars or emoticons.

3. Sightspeed 8

You have to pay $5 for using this software.Sightspeed has quality video conferencing with as many as four people, pc-to-pc voice calling anywhere in the world, video mail and more in an easy-to-use interface. You can personalize your SightSpeed webpage text and address, and you can talk to your MSN messenger contacts to expand your SightSpeed circles.It has a good eye candy design and some attractive features like pausing the video call and so on.However Sightspeed do not support sharing of files or emoticons which can be pointed out as its greatest disadvantage.

FileZilla Client is a fast and reliable cross-platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP client with a clean and easy to navigate GNU interface.Some of its features are listed here.

1.Maniadrive

There is a passion for young gamers for the racing games!.. Well games like need for speed is currently dominating the racing world, but there are games for linux too!! Check out the game!.. Its a cool 3D game with medium Graphics. A 3D game for linux users!!

2.America’s Army

Intrested in Games like half life etc.. Well we have games like that in linux too!!. We have a bunch of 3d platform game or even more.. Well from my findings I think this one is the most intresting one. This is a 3d shooting war like game with nice cool graphics! I have included a video link that prove the same. The game is so smooth compared to the other windows Games! This one is a bit funny too!!

3.The Battle for Wesnoth

The first game that come to our minds while thinking of the stratergy games is Age Of Empires and Rise Of nations!! Well then you have not ever searched for linux stratergy games for sure!!.. Well there is a ton of such stratergy games!! I bet you will like them!.. Most of the users search for such games and end up in sites that refer to small games that usually disappoints the stratergy freaks!.. Well I think this one does not!. You need to give this one a try!. Its less like AOE . but is very funny!! linux games are!!

4.Regnum Online Game

There are cool online games for linux! which I bet you can’t resist playing! Regnum is a 3d oline game in which you can configure yourself, I mean the appearance and then get yourself inside the 3d world!. Well this game is for absolute freaks.. and this too has a very nice game graphics compared to the other online games. More over its a place to meet your friends begin a teamwork and defeat the enemy!.Just see the game play video! its too hard to resist!!

5.TuxRacer

This was one of the most popular game in linux in 2001. I remember playing these type of games in my friends house!.. I can’t imagine who does play these games now!! ..Well This one still deserves the first place . This was the one during that time!.. Just check out the Video!!
