MS OFFICE 2010 "STUNNING PERFORMANCE"

Posted on 18 November 2009 by admin

MSOFFICE 2010 puts a large emphasis on not only desktop applications, but mobile products and Office Web Applications that will allow users access to free hosted Office applications that can be used from both PCs and Macs. MSOFFICE 2010 is Compatible with IE, Firefox, and Safari, these Web Applications allow you to use Office on the go without needing Office 2010 installed on your PC. Office 2010 also is the first version of Office to ship in both a 32- and 64-bit version and both will come on one disc as well.

Office Web Apps

Microsoft  to offer a free web-based version of its Office productivity suite, known as Office Web Apps, that will debut with the release of Office 2010.The web apps will allow sharing and collaboration of documents and files and also feature user interfaces similar to their desktop counterparts.

Backstage View

Office 2010 replaces the old File menu in all of the applications with something called “Backstage View.” This contains familiar tasks like Save, Print and Publish. However, it also makes a lot of document-specific information including Document Mode, Permissions, Prepare for Distribution, and Versions readily available.

Backstage View didn’t stand out to me when I was looking over the list of new features. However, I was quickly sold on it while testing Word 2010, because it put all of my important document management information into a single view.

Ribbon Menu Enhancements

While Office 2010 keeps the ribbon menu that was introduced in Office 2007, it now extends across the entire Microsoft Office 2010 suite. While the ribbon has just as many detractors as it does lovers, Microsoft has made many improvements over the version found in Office 2007. In particular, it lets you customize it to your particular working style in each application. The ribbon received a lot of criticism in the 2007 release, but these enhancements should build greater acceptance of perhaps the most drastic Office interface change so far.

Support for Co-authoring

Word 2010, OneNote 2010, and PowerPoint 2010 now include a co-authoring feature, enabling multiple authors to work on the same document at the same time. This is a welcome change from having to use SharePoint, where only one author at a time can check a document out for editing. The addition of co-authoring is really ratcheting Office 2010’s collaboration options.

Improved Conversation View in Outlook 2010

Email management can be a challenge to even the most experienced web worker. To help tame your inbox, Outlook 2010 includes an improved Conversation View, which includes:

  • Show Messages from All Folders
  • Reverse Sort
  • Add Columns
  • Expand/Collapse

I am pleased with the new, more granular Conversation View. The controls are very accessible and usable, showing a definite improvement over Outlook 2007.

NEW FEATURES

  • Background Removal Tool
  • Letter Styling
  • Screen Capturing and Clipping tools
  • “Mark As Final” Function
  • Jumplist

OPENOFFICE OUTBEATS OFFICE 7

Posted on 17 October 2009 by admin

Open office or OO.o is a free office application suite. It is now owned by oracle which recently purchased from Sun Microsystems. From my own experience i found that it is a lot better in a numerous ways. And the best part is that it is free for everyone and we dont have to pay 300$ for it.Its sourcecode is open to all to modify and edit, which opens up a great oppurtunity for the programming freaks.

openoffice

OpenOffice.org is an a must have software package. And for most people is a suitable replacement for Microsoft Office. It contains ‘writer’  which  is not just a word processor, but also offers spreadsheet functionality roughly equivalent to Excel, a presentation program (Impress)which is, more or less, comparable to Power Point.Calc is excelent spreadsheet program which is capable of doing anything that excel offer you .In addition, OpenOffice.org now contains a built-in relational database application similar to MS Access.

Another cool feature of openoffice is  is its ability to work with many other office suite file formats. You can save your documents as MS Word (or many other) documents and they will open up just as you intended in Word. You can also convert your file to pdf format in just a click when using ‘writer’.

One of the suite’s most useful features are its wizards, which walk you through creating spreadsheets, presentations, and other documents.OpenOffice works with an extremely wide variety of formats, including the OpenDocument Format (ODF) 1.2 standard, as well as documents created in Microsoft Office 2007 and Office 2008 for the Mac. You can even export files to PDF.

So why you waiting???  switch over to openoffice.Save 300$ and be proud to be a part of opensource community.
